Really? No one yet. Tsk tsk. ;)
Fine. I'll start.
I wrote this about 3 years ago.

Door Man

Would you still recognize me
if we meet under different circumstances,
at a different time of day.
Would you know my name if we met on the street,
or am I only a habit that you greet with your
practiced smile and gliding eye;
not a person, but a time of day that must come and go
with precision.

Nice one. Okay, I'll have to turn in my guy card after this but what the hell. And hands off thieves!! This is my property!

This one is somewhat based in truth.

The Kitten, His Love, Her Life

She buried her kitten on a lonely Spring day,
And dropped flower petals on the grave where her tears had fallen just moments before.
She wondered why that stranger was staring at her; was it pity or something more?

He held her hand and kissed her cheek and told her that things would be alright.
He would help her find love lost and remember how to want to care one more time.
She knew from that day on she loved him and that he loved her, too.
They would live the rest of their lives together; just the two.

Once a year they would visit the kitten’s grave,
And speak to it as if it were there and could understand human, too.
They would hold hands and speak of what they would do for the day, if the kitten were now a cat and their companion, too.
Their silence would give them the answer that no one knows the answer to that…

He was peaceful when he went and she buried him next to the kitten that died on the day they met.
Now she was all alone and yearned for a release that wouldn’t come yet.

The sadness overcame her within a year;
She passed in her sleep while deep in a dream.
She had finally found her peace and from the dream she awoke…

And opened her eyes…to a new world.

Her life’s love was waiting for her, and the kitten was there too.
They hugged her and kissed her cheek and loved her forever.
Because now she was there...

Oh, silly me. I've posted me poetry in the wrong section.

Right, I'm only going to post one piece...

Strength and Valour

There's a new light at the top of the world
Though at night we must carry on the fight
If we're to raise our boys and our girls

I've made my decisions and I've made up my mind
The battle plans are laid out precisely for precision
Now do I go into battle alongside those of my kind

We may win, or we may lose
But not to begin now would be a sin
And could ignite a different kind of fuse

Men of arms I call upon you first
Not with promises of dreamt up charms
But to carry with you into battle, two words

Strength and valour in the face of our enemy
Strength and valour to cut them asunder
Strength and valour to honour me

Damn.... I didnt make it in time. :(

But I do have all of my poetry in all those cards that we did for the exchanges. That accounts for something right?

Well, I wouldn't object if everyone wanted to extend the deadline till the end of April. I can pick a winner in May just as easily... :)

That would give me three more days to come up with another excuse. That should be enough.
